Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame for the films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. The film Piano won her several awards including an Oscar. Her acting career began with Broadway through a myriad of Broadway as well as Off Broadway projects. It has always been her obsession. When she was in fifth grade, she played Helen Keller in an original play. Mumps led her to lose her hearing in one of her ear, however this didn't stop the actress from fulfilling her dream. The college she attended was drama after which she moved from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her goals. In a chance encounter she got stuck in an elevator alongside writer Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart and became Hunter's debut. She relocated into Los Angeles and tried to find movie parts. In Swing Shift, she landed an appearance as a supporting character. Over the past three decades, she has appeared on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
